Current State of The Shallows Stock Screener

The screener is running on 1,506 stocks right now. Every night, it pulls updated numbers for all of them and regenerates a full report for each one — balance sheet trend, a discounted cash flow valuation, insider trading activity, and how the company stacks up against its peers.

Below is one of those reports, using Apple as the example. We picked Apple because it is a company most readers already know, not because there is anything unusual in its numbers this week. This is not an analysis of the company. It is one report out of 1,506 generated the same way, the same night, and the point here is the report itself.

Every report opens with a disclosure banner before a reader sees a single number: educational and informational purposes only, no buy, sell, or hold recommendation, model outputs are descriptive rather than a signal to act on. That banner is not boilerplate we bolted on. The Shallows is a publication, not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and the reports are built to say so plainly before anything else.

That is the same structure for every one of the 1,506 tickers, regenerated nightly rather than pulled once and left to go stale.

Most of the current work is edge cases. Some tickers have incomplete filings, unusual balance sheet structures, or too little history for one of the five models to run cleanly, and each of those has to be found and fixed one at a time. That is normal for a system this early, and it is where most of the effort is going right now.

The other limit is hardware, not logic. The current RAM configuration caps how much data can be processed at a time.

More tickers, and cleaner reports on the ones already covered, are coming as both get resolved.
